2017 has been a significant year for women in entertainment, and not just the women who take center stage. More and more women are being recognized for their incredible, groundbreaking work behind-the-scenes across all disciplines. Whether it be as a producer, director, recording engineer, sound designer, manager, marketing executive – you name it – women are taking an evolving industry and making it entirely their own.

Take Alexis Seton, a Bronx native whose engineering credits include A-listers such as Snoop Dogg, Gucci Mane, Britney Spears, and Mary J. Blige. Now living in Beverly Hills, Seton worked as an engineer for Sean “Diddy” Combs’ label Bad Boy Entertainment before signing on as a project manager for Overbrook Entertainment, a production company started by partners Will Smith and film producer James Lassiter. Overbrook Entertainment produces the “Holy Trinity” of entertainment – music, film, and television – a rare feat for most production companies. Contributing to its uniqueness, Overbrook also scouts unknown talent to record and produce music for their in-house film and television productions.
